A brief history of exploration and operation of the Uchkulach deposit
The Uchkulach lead-zinc deposit has been known since 1930, exploration works on it were carried out from 1947 to 1963.
Studies on ore preparation characteristics from the Uch-Kulach deposit were carried out by various research institutes. In the period 1960-1982, a large volume of both laboratory research and semi-industrial tests was carried out at the experimental shop of the plant.
During the construction of the mine, 1981-1983, all the necessary infrastructure was created, which is mainly preserved at the present time, incl. all social amenity facilities.
Operation of the deposit, the Dalniy quarry began in 1981. Due to the decline in prices for metals (zinc, lead), the development of the quarry turned out to be unprofitable and in 1998, ore mining was suspended, and in 2006 the quarry was closed down.
Currently, no work is being performed at the Dalniy quarry.
A supplier of engineering solutions and equipment has been identified for the project
On May 20, 2019, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between HPO-Service GmbH and the State Committee for Geology on joint work at the Uchkulach field.
The transfer of reserves to JORC is carried out by CSA Global (Australia).
It is planned to involve the Hatch company in the development of the feasibility study.
